Maine Women in the Arts is primarily a fine art group: our shows currently feature painting, photography, printmaking, pottery, collage and fiber art. Two shows per year (July and December) also provide tablespace for crafts, but to have a craft table, a member must also exhibit an art piece, either hanging or on a pedestal.

Membership

If a new member wishes to sell crafts at our December Prelude art & fine crafts show, they must show their crafts in the July art and crafts show first. This step is necessary in order for new members to becomes acclimated to, and comfortable with, our exhibit process and rules.

The founders of Maine Women in the Arts felt there were an abundance of groups and venues for crafter's in Southern Maine, and chose to limit its focus to fine art. The crafts aspect of our shows is always secondary and is listed that way in all our publicity materials.

So, if you are a painter, print maker, sculptor, etc., who also happens to make fabulous jewelry, we welcome your membership. If you only make jewelry, we may not be the group for you.

You are welcome to attend our monthly meetings to find out more. We alternate between a evening and morning meeting, usually in Kennebunk or Kennebunkport. See meeting page for more info.

Dues are $40 annually, payable in January, for that calendar year.

Please mail your payment and information (Name, Address, Phone, and Email) to Susan Hilton

Note: Membership must be paid no later than April 1st to participate in the Awards Show.

Best regards,

MWA Chairperson
